Now that you are connected to Undernet you should have a single window with a bunch of text stating the servers particular policy and other information (this is called MOTD, or Message of the day) You can issue tons of commands from this window. The most important one is probably the /join command. All commands are preceded by a '/'. Step 2 - Join the channel Animetrader by typing /join #animetrader and you will end up in the channel animetrader on undernet. Simple huh ? Well, its a start. You can now partake in the conversations that are ongoing, but you want files, movies and episodes of your favorite shows. You can of course simply ask for the and hope someone will send them your way, OR you could use one of the channels many File servers (Fserve's) and browse for something you like.
This is the screen you will see once you have joined a channel. The left portion being the Chat room, and the right part being all the people that are in the room at that time. Something you might want to remember is that the channel operators (the people that can forcefully terminate your visit to the chat room) have a @ in front of their name. The people with a + in front of their name are more then likely Fileservers (you wanna be nice to these guys). Step 2.1 - The next thing you want to do is type !list . You will be flooded with message from Fileservers. (NOTE : Do not try typing !list in any other channel you join unless you are sure its ok!! More about that later). Step 2.2 - Lets Rip apart one the the messages we got to get some useful information from it and show you how to access the file server. Most Fserve's come with flashy colored reply's like the one below from Kyser. -KyserServ- [Fserve] Running:[11 Hours] Trigger:[/ctcp KyserServ JustTypeIt] Snagged:[5.75 Gb in 39 files] Record:[12.1 Kb/s by rkenshin] Sends:[2/2] Queues:[6/50] Accessed:[299 times] On server:[Good shit.] New today:[Find out, shit it's free u got nothin to lose.] Note:[Just type the Trigger!] The most important information is the Trigger, in this case the trigger is /ctcp KyserServ JustTypeIt You can type the trigger and go to step 3 now if you want, or you can read on and find out what the other information means. Snagged
: the amount of total transfer the fserv has sent out If a server has a ridiculous amount of queues and a low record cps you might as well forget it. 100 people waiting for 200Mb files at a max speed of 10k/s just isn't worth the wait. Jump the to the next server by repeating the steps above with info from a different server. If you haven't already, go ahead and type the trigger of the Fserv you decided to check out and proceed to step 3
