Well
here's a great anime for those of you who like kawaii animes.
No, no, don't be embarrassed. I too am captivated by all things
kawaii. The premise of the show is a guy that is trying to build
a chibi squid-robot when suddenly he accidentally orders a cybernetic
Hand Maid doll who's name is Sherry. Nah, just kidding it May
:P. With him there to nurture her she begins to develop a personality
and tries her best to help around the house even though she is
less than a foot tall.
From
a glance its easy to tell that Hand Maid May is a comedy/romance.
Like most animes in this category there's one guy, Saotome-kun,
and a large handful of girls. Saotome and May bond emotionally
as they go through many things together, from grocery shopping
to near-death experiences to being repossessed (May, not Saotome
^_^). Along the way the group of main characters steadily grows
with more cute cyberdolls, life sized ones.
One
of the greatest things about HMM is that it lacks a real nemesis.
There's no big bad dude who is trying to take over the world causing
the main characters to be force to cooperate and bond together
to fight him. Nor is there an evil company making cyberdolls for
war that causes the main characters to develop and use their love
to fight the company. Of course there is one real enemy of Saotome-kun
who is an annoying rich guy that's jealous of Saotome's success
but he's just there for comic relief (well he does play a part
in a couple love triangles). In fact instead of a real enemy he
usually is just one of the group occasionally failing miserably
to cause trouble. Thankfully, the audience is allowed to watch
characters bond and develop relationships through normal everyday
life. Well, if you can overlook the fact that 80% of the main
characters are cyberdolls.
A
lot of great comedy, a lot of great love triangles, and some good
character development (not to mention one of the characters developing
right before your eyes throughout the series) make this anime
a top choice. I give a 8/10! If you like cute animes where you
have a wide variety of characters to fall in love with then this
anime is for you. If you don't, you will probably like it anyways!
It's that good!
If
you like this anime try: Ranma 1/2, Saber Marionette J and Love
hina!
