Ragnarok Online - Review by logick - logick gives it an 11/10

For those of you that took part in the alpha testing of Ragnarok Online the long awaited Beta is not much of a surprise. For those that weren't part of alpha (like myself) this beta is a first glimps at what is to come.

You start the game in one of the incredibly scenic towns as a novice, after gaining some experience your character can become one of several classes, like thief, accolyte, swordsman, merchant and more. That is when the fun realy starts. Like most online RPG's, this game has no end, you set out on quests that you determine, the goals you want your character to reach are set by you alone, and that is what makes this game so extremely addictive.

Once a goal is met, you are oh so close to the next one, so you keep on playing. For each level your character grows you gain skills, another reason to just keep on playing.

The world of Ragnarok Online is very charming and detailed, the background music complements the area you are in, warm melodic music in the desert,a medieval sounding song in the town of Prontera makes you want to grab another goblet of ale.

Gameplay is simple and everything can be done by only a few clicks. Magic users have no complex menu to go through before they can finaly cast a spell. All actions can be assigned to hot keys, so battles are swift, and there is no time lost trying to go through menus.

Another great thing about Ragnarok is that there are area's for each level, a level 5 swordsman can have a great time in one are, while a level 34 swordsman can have the same amount of damage dealt and do as much damage in another. You do not work up to a certain level to be able to achieve something. This game is as much fun at level 5 as it is at level 50.

Traveling can be somewhat tricky, with mazes between each town it can take a while before you can find your way around without getting lost. There are accolytes (NPC's) that can do away with this by teleporting you from town to town for a hefty fee, but this isnt as much fun as roaming the lands in search of grasshoppers and other monsters.

Towns are great for catching up with friends that also play the game. You can get rid of your loot here, buy new armor, weapons, etc. When selling your hard earned items you might want to check around and see what you realy have. A 4 leaf clover sells for 1z in stores, but 50K on the street. The same goes for weapons and everything else, you might be better off buying from, and selling to fellow players and get more bacg fore the zenny.

This game is a must for any RPG fan. You can find more information online at www.ragnarokonline.com and www.ro-world.com. Since this is a beta version a lot of patching is still being done. Download your patches from ro world instead of the patch client that comes with the game. It will save you several minutes, or hours in some cases.

Make sure you have finished all that you planned on doing for the day, or week, because you will be hooked once you start. You can download this beta version for free from one of the sites mentioned above.

I personaly can not wait untill this title hits the stores.
